Message from President and CEO, Bob Caulfield

The entire Jefferson’s Ferry community is thrilled to welcome the warm weather, and with it a more relaxed protocol that enables us to safely spend quality time among our neighbors, family, and friends, both on campus and out in the larger community.

This year marks the Twentieth Anniversary of the opening of Jefferson’s Ferry’s. You can be sure that we’ll be celebrating the extraordinarily vibrant community that is Jefferson’s Ferry. Over the course of these twenty years we have grown, flourished, and evolved to meet the needs of new residents and expand our services and amenities. You can be sure we will continue on that course.

We are thankful to be on the other side of last year’s challenges but will also remember 2020 for the singular way that we came together as a community, knowing that our most basic needs would be met and also in finding comfort in our shared optimism, concern and ingenuity that enabled us to get through it together. Most of us wouldn’t have had it any other way, and willingly made the necessary sacrifices to support each other and ensure the safety and security of residents and fellow coworkers.  And we learned new ways to stay connected and have some fun, even when we couldn’t gather in person.

Now that most everyone on campus has been vaccinated, we have resumed many of our favorite activities while continuing to follow reasonable precautions in compliance with infection control and safety guidelines as directed by the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We will continue to monitor updates and information provided by the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

To all the members of our community, including our residents, their families and friends, our staff and board members, we express enduring gratitude for your unflagging support, spirit, faith, fortitude, and patience.

Our door is always open. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or compliments.

The Vincent Bove Health Center Visitation Rules and Requirements

VISITATION GUIDELINES
(Effective May 13, 2021)

The Vincent Bove Health Center at Jefferson’s Ferry is conducting in-person visitations consistent with NYSDOH regulations.

Visitors are not required to be tested or vaccinated for COVID-19, however all visitors must be screened prior to entering the building and are encouraged to be tested and/or vaccinated prior to visiting. Visitors will be denied entrance to the building if they exhibit signs or symptoms of COVID-19, or do not pass the screening questions. For purposes of these Visitation Guidelines, the term “visitor” includes family members, friends, and companions that are not employees of Jefferson’s Ferry.

All visitors and residents must adhere to the following visitation guidelines:

On-campus visits are by appointment ONLY and must be scheduled with the Therapeutic Recreation Department by calling 631-650-2656.

Visitation may be scheduled Monday through Sunday as follows:

  • Assisted Living: Between 10:30am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-3:00pm
  • Skilled Nursing 2 East: Between 10:00am-11:30pm and 2pm-3:30pm
  • Skilled Nursing 2 West: Between 9:30am-11:00am and 2:30pm-4pm

Outside visitations are allowed and encouraged (weather permitting).

Indoor visitations are limited as follows to comply with NYSDOH social distancing requirements.

  • Assisted Living: No more than four (4) 90-minute visits per resident, per week, with a maximum of two (2) visitors at one time.
  • Skilled Nursing: No more than four (4) 90-minute visits per resident, per week, with a maximum of one (1) visitor at one time.

  • Visitors may not travel through the Health Center or walk the hallways other than to reach the rear patio or the resident’s room.
  • Consumption of food and beverages during the visit are not allowed.
  • All visitors must use hand sanitizer before and after their visit. A hand sanitizer station is located at the entrance to the building.

If a visitor is unable to adhere to any of the above guidelines, the visitor will be asked to leave the building and may not be permitted to return.

Off-campus visitations are allowed. Families taking Health Center residents off-campus must be mindful of the potential risks, especially if the resident or the people they encounter have not been fully vaccinated. This includes being in crowds and poorly ventilated spaces. Jefferson’s Ferry recommends the utilization of masks, physical distancing, and hand hygiene during off-campus visitations.

If a resident comes into contact with someone who is ill with COVID-19, or becomes ill after visiting with a resident, please contact the residents nursing station immediately.

To schedule an off-campus visitation with your loved one please call your loved ones respective nursing station listed above.
