South Setauket, NY…February 6, 2017 … A group of enthusiastic Jefferson's Ferry board members and managers were in attendance as Jefferson's Ferry Foundation Director of Philanthropy Kaylin Peterson was recognized recently as one of the select Forty Under 40 group by Long Island Business News, Long Island's business weekly. With 180 nominations submitted, this year's competition for outstanding young business people under the age of 40 was particularly competitive.

Robert E. Caulfield, the President and CEO of Jefferson's Ferry, nominated Kaylin for the honor. "Kaylin's leadership qualities and skills are evident in her growth with our organization. Her enthusiasm and drive have advanced the success and mission of the Jefferson's Ferry Foundation. She is truly an asset to our organization and others she serves and she is extremely worthy of this award." The Jefferson's Ferry Foundation nurtures a philanthropic environment which has enriched the lives of the residents in numerous ways, such as upgrading and providing new technologies; making building improvements and providing financial assistance in times of unexpected need.

Kaylin works closely with the Foundation, managing all fundraising activities, from its annual major fundraiser, Monte Carlo Night, to individual donations and pledges, the promotion of matching gift programs and the development of marketing materials. Monies raised through Monte Carlo Night have contributed to the relocation and construction of Jefferson's Ferry's Healthy Living Center and fund the Jefferson's Ferry's Resident Assistance Fund, which plays a critical role at Jefferson's Ferry by covering the monthly fees of residents who have outlived their assets or experience an unanticipated financial need through no fault of his or her own.

Kaylin is a member and Sergeant at Arms of the Stony Brook Rotary Club and with the club, volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and Camp-Pa-Qua-tuck, which serves people with disabilities. With her colleagues at Jefferson's Ferry, Kaylin volunteers at the Welcome INN Soup Kitchen, preparing and serving the meals for the guests, and helping with clean up.

As a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Kaylin attends educational sessions on various topics in philanthropy, participates in its Mentor Express program and its annual Philanthropy Day, a daylong seminar of various topics pertaining to philanthropy. Prior to joining Jefferson's Ferry, Kaylin worked in the development office of the Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute. She graduated from St. Joseph's College with a B.A. in Psychology and earned a certificate in Not-For-Profit Management at Hofstra University. She lives in Port Jefferson Station.
