South Setauket, NY—October 15, 2020 – Jefferson’s Ferry’s Kathy Fallon was recently honored among the Top 50 Women in Business on Long Island by Long Island Business News, Long Island’s business weekly.  Fallon is Life Enrichment Program Manager at the Life Plan Retirement Community. She was nominated for the honor by Jefferson’s Ferry President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Caulfield.

As the Life Enrichment Program Manager, Fallon is charged with the development and deployment of programs and activities that engage and even enchant the community’s residents.  Getting to know the individuals, their backgrounds, and interests enables her to develop unique programs and activities that are fun, adventurous, educational, and appeal to a varied group whose individual ages span decades.

Her talents have been particularly on display since earlier this year as Jefferson’s Ferry residents became somewhat more limited in their usual activities and overall social scene as a result of COVID-19 protocols. Fallon’s ingenuity and ease with digital technology played a key role as she quickly embraced the changes necessary to help keep residents physically, intellectually, and emotionally healthy.

Fallon helped to lead a significant technological revolution among the residents, coaching technology-shy residents in the art of Zoom and Facetime, setting up a Zoom Room that allowed the residents the opportunity to readily stay in touch with family and friends.   Fallon also set up two rooms that allowed for socially distant group activities and compiled a vast library of streaming educational, cultural and entertainment programming that could be accessed on demand by the community on their in-house TV channel and app.

Outside of her work at Jefferson’s Ferry, Fallon serves on the Executive Board and is Recording Secretary for the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.  She launched its Young Professionals group and is Chair of the networking and nonprofit committees.   Active on the Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community Services board, she serves as Vice President.  The Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce Coalition named Fallon as its Member of the Year in 2019, and The Long Island Advance honored her as Woman of the Year in 2019.
