"I have been genuinely impressed by the attitude of all of your employees -- there is obviously an effort made to create not just a technically good effort of service but everyone seems to enjoy themselves as well. I am very happy with my mother living there -- of course so is she."

"I am been very happy here. I love my apartment. It is very comfortable. It is comfortable, spacious and bright and has plenty of storage. Moving from a large home, I worried that I would feel closed in, but I find myself happier in my apartment than I was in my home of 40+ years.
The service I receive here is wonderful. It’s simple: You need something and it’s done. The staff couldn’t be more helpful or more caring.
The residents are very friendly; I have friends with many people and always find more things to do than I time to do them.
My family is so happy that I’m here and I’m well taken care of. I know moving here gave my children great peace of mind and I love being able to live independently without them worrying about me taking care of the house. Although I don’t need help now, if and when I do, it’s right here. Everything I need or want is here.
To me, lifecare is the way to go if you care about your life!"

"Giving health care is a difficult and yet a rewarding task. It is especially difficult when it is care for one’s wife who is afflicted with a progressive mental illness. I was willing to relinquish full responsibility only when caring for my wife began to threaten my own well being. It became prudent to evaluate the prospects of moving my wife to the nursing care at the Bove Health Center at Jefferson’s Ferry.
When my wife was admitted, she was promptly attended to by the nurse, physical therapist and participating doctor to assess her condition. Later on, the psychologist and representatives of the Medical Director and food services discussed with me a care plan. I listened to their evaluation and they listened to my suggestions about my wife’s care.
The facilities and programs seem abundant, but the staff is amazing. You are well staffed with nurses and aides and have little change in personnel. They come in early and stay late. It doesn’t seem that they are there only for the money. A family atmosphere is established.
It is natural to me to hug and kiss my wife while I am visiting because she wants and needs that emotional support that I want to give. But I note the gentleness with which the staff treats patients and yes, even shows affection. Surely, the Bove Health Center is the crown jewel of Jefferson’s Ferry. Congratulations to the staff for the high level of health care you achieve!"

"We hated to leave our home and neighbors of many years but it seemed that is was time to make a change. We wanted to be free from caring for our house and outdoor responsibilities and to assure our future care needs that would free our children from that concern. Jefferson’s Ferry offered all that as well as many other activities, amenities and freedom.
After seven years of living here, we feel it was the wisest decision we could have made. Jefferson’s Ferry is a caring, active community and the people certainly make it the special place it is. Activities cover a variety of interests and include speakers, trips and events that make Jefferson’s Ferry a great place to live!"

"I have just celebrated my first anniversary at Jefferson’s Ferry. It is a joyous and enriching place to live. It is a festive and friendly community and I am continually energized by the outstanding and stimulating activities as well as the refined and sparkling amenities and services.
It is a place for families—whether it’s our own family or our Jefferson’s Ferry family. The attitude of excellence that the staff exudes is refreshing and notable. It’s just such a rewarding place to me—I count myself so very lucky to be here—three cheers for Jefferson’s Ferry!"

"Jefferson’s Ferry has been our home for several years and we are thankful we’ve made our home here. The friendships with other residents, both old and new, and the proximity to Stony Brook University have been enriching experiences. We continue to be enormously impressed by the caring helpfulness shown to us by the staff at Jefferson’s Ferry. And, of course, one of the unseen but very valuable benefits of moving to Jefferson’s Ferry is that it is a gift to one’s children. Now, they need not worry about the welfare of their parents! Altogether, a wise move…"

"My husband and I have been members of the Jefferson’s Ferry community for a while now. From the first day, it felt like home. The staff work hard to take care of all our needs and our fellow residents made us feel so welcome with their warm greetings. They all said, “You’ll be glad you made the move and you’ll be happy here.” We are and we do!"

"Once I got my head on straight, I realized I no longer belonged in the city, living alone. When I learned about Jefferson’s Ferry from my children, who live nearby, I decided to move in—that was six years ago. It was a good move.
I’ve found being here to be such good fortune. The place is beautiful, the ambience is so pleasant and I’ve made good friends. I learned how to quilt, look forward to the spirited current events’ discussions each week and to Tai Chi twice a week. There is no pressure—you choose how to spend your day. I particularly appreciate that. And, I love my apartment!
I can choose a food plan appropriate for me and the menu is varied, plentiful and beautifully presented. Most importantly, help, is it’s needed, is only a button or phone call away! Help from a caring, professional staff, arrives immediately. How did I get so smart?"

"The pleasures of life arrive in little moments, at unexpected times and in unexpected places. Over two years of life at “the Ferry” have provided me with many of these moments in the cheerful responses of staff to residents’ needs and wishes.
I soon discovered that there was a common denominator to all the residents. It’s like an alliance, built on mutual respect and the ability to speak with “straight tongue” to one another. The warmth is pervasive in every department and activity of my new world, which has provided the stepping stones to my new life and blessed me with unanticipated contentment."

"Over twenty years ago, I visited several lifecare communities in Florida and almost signed up for one. By 2001, my wife had died and I jumped at the chance to enter Jefferson’s Ferry, the first lifecare community on Long Island. I have been so pleased with being here—my home is wonderful and the health center, when and if I need it, is stellar.
For now, I have the pleasure and joy of fellowship with other residents who are stimulating and enriching to be with. I have no worries about maintenance, upkeep or the drudgery of taking care of “the little things”. I am free to enjoy full time retirement, doing whatever I please."

"I’ve been at Jefferson’s Ferry for over three years and simply love life here. When I first saw the community, I was very impressed with its beautiful landscaping and interior, but I soon realized there were things even more wonderful in store for me. Everyone here, the residents and staff, are the most wonderful people—helping, caring and willing to make friends. The friends I’ve made here are priceless. Three years after I’ve moved, I feel younger and more contented than ever. There is so much to do here—there’s an activity or group for everyone!
My son and daughter-in-law recently moved from Long Island to Connecticut. They wanted me to move closer to them, but I’m staying right here . A new world has opened up to me since I’ve called Jefferson’s Ferry home."

"My Mom and Dad moved into the "Ferry" over seven years ago and all of their children are delighted they did! Jefferson`s Ferry not only provides all the services that you expect but they do it with a staff that exceeds expectations. My personal experiences with the organization and the staff have left me with the knowledge and comfort that my folks are in "good hands". Thank You Jefferson`s Ferry."

"After my Mom lived a wonderful life in her home for nearly 48 years, it was time for her to make a transition. Being a widow and keeping up with a five-bedroom house was too much work. Mom was not and is not ready for assisted living, so Jefferson Ferry offered the perfect solution. I never knew what a lifecare community was all about until I read about and visited Jefferson Ferry. I observed the wonderful staff interacting with the residents and was always warmly greeted by all.
I love knowing that my mom is in a magnificent setting with a wonderful apartment and amenities. I also love knowing that she is safe and happily enjoying her new home. She has made such a wonderful transition while making new friends and taking full advantage of the wonderful surroundings and amenities that Jefferson Ferry offers. I have even brought my children on occasions to visit with their grandma and then visit with the pool.
I also have peace of mind that if and when there comes a time when Mom needs additional care, that she need not move from Jefferson Ferry. It’s truly an amazing place with caring people everywhere. The staff is so intent on serving the residents that the word “no” seems not to exist—a rarity in today’s world."
