What is a Lifecare community?
Jefferson's Ferry is a Lifecare Retirement Community, with independent residential living for active seniors, providing services and amenities, and long term care at no additional cost (should you need it). Residents live in their own apartment or cottage, decorated with their own furnishings and cherished possessions.
What can I expect living at Jefferson's Ferry?
The Jefferson's Ferry lifestyle includes such amenities as an indoor swimming pool, fitness center library and computer center, fine dining in an elegant dining room, pub and café. In addition, you are guaranteed unlimited high quality, on-site assisted living and nursing care, if and whenever you need it. Residents have the peace of mind of a 24 hour emergency response system, round-the-clock security, and a 24 hour nurse on duty.
Since it is your home, you come and go as you please within a secure community of friends. Jefferson's Ferry services will give you freedom from housekeeping, lawn care, home maintenance and other chores, allowing you the time to enjoy the things that are most important to you such as visiting friends, travel, hobbies and more. You have added peace of mind knowing that assistance and healthcare are available, should you need them for as long as you need them.
What are the costs at Jefferson's Ferry?
There are 2 fees: a one-time Entrance Fee and a regular monthly service fee. Jefferson's Ferry offers two Entrance Fee plans: 90% Refundable and Traditional. The 90% Refundable entrance fee provides a guaranteed refund of 90% of the original fee should you leave the community for any reason or it will go to your estate. The Traditional entrance fee is less expensive, with the refundable portion declining at the rate of 2% per month of occupancy over a period of four years. You can choose the plan that is right for you based on your individual financial portfolio.
The monthly fee includes all the high quality services and amenities: utilities (except phone and cable), one meal daily, bi-weekly housekeeping, weekly linen service, maintenance, scheduled transportation, security, parking and round-the- clock emergency response.
Why pay an Entrance Fee for Continuing Care?
The Entrance Fee provides residents with a home at Jefferson's Ferry, use of all the community amenities and guaranteed priority access to health care services including skilled nursing care, if needed, at no additional charge.
Can I bring my pet?
Of course. Pets are always welcome at Jefferson's Ferry in first floor apartments and cottages.
Is there parking for my car?
Yes. Parking is available in lots adjacent to the apartments. The cottages have their own attached garages.
Is there extra storage?
Jefferson's Ferry has additional, lockable indoor storage space in the lower level of the community center for your seldom used possessions and/or seasonal items.
Are there recreational/educational programs?
One of the benefits of Jefferson's Ferry is our extensive educational and recreational activities. We provide lectures, music, art, movies, entertainment, health and wellness programs, trips in our own buses, gardening, bridge groups, and many other programs. A few examples of the range of programs we provide are Tai Chi, ballroom dancing, water aerobics, chess lessons, happy hour, travelogues and bowling teams. Jefferson's Ferry has an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, performing arts center, library and computer center, billiards, woodworking shop, bank, beauty salon/barber, and prescription delivery.
Can my grandchildren visit?
Guests of any age are always welcome at Jefferson's Ferry because it is your home.
Can guests stay overnight?
Your home at Jefferson's Ferry is yours to do with as you please, including entertaining overnight guests in your apartment or cottage. There are also guest suites available at a reasonable cost.
Is there a place where my bridge group, book club or other group could meet?
Jefferson's Ferry has lounges for reading, socializing or throwing a private dinner party. Our Activities Coordinator conducts many classes, activities and special interest groups which you may wish to join. In addition, your own group is welcome to meet at Jefferson's Ferry in any of the available common areas.
What happens if I get sick?
The Vincent Bove Health at Jefferson's Ferry has a wellness center, medical director, lab services, visiting physicians, and a 24 hour licensed nurse on duty. If you have a minor illness, such as the flu, you can remain in your apartment cottage. Tray service is available from the dining room so that you can dine in your home. If a stay or permanent transfer is needed in the health center for a more serious illness or recovery from surgery, your entrance fee provides enriched housing (an assisted living program) or skilled nursing care in a private accommodation at no additional charge.
Will the monthly fee always stay the same?
The monthly fee may increase to provide the high level of service, as the cost of running the community increases. Jefferson's Ferry is a not-for-profit community which means any profits stay within the community to help maintain the finest services, care and amenities.
Can I
buy extra meals?
You can purchase extra meals for yourself or guests in the dining room and café. You also have the choice of a twenty, twenty-five, or thirty meal/month plan.
If I only get one meal per day, where do I get my other meals?
Your cottage or apartment at Jefferson's Ferry will have a fully equipped kitchen so that you can prepare your own meals. You may also purchase additional meals in the dining room or café or dine out in one of the many area restaurants.
How do I become a resident of Jefferson's Ferry?
Complete a Wait List Agreement for the home of your choice and submit a non-refundable deposit of $250.
What if my plans change?
Should your plans change, just notify us in writing to have your deposit returned. There is no risk since deposits are fully refundable. |
